A Public Lecture will be held in Danish at the City Hall of Copenhagen on Sunday, 14 May 2017, in the afternoon from 3 to 4 p.m. Opening words by Culture and Leisure Mayor Carl Christian Ebbesen.
Astrophysicist Anja Cetti Andersen has kindly agreed to enlighten us on the subject: Star Dust and Galaxies.
Dust in astronomical contexts covers very small solid particles (minerals). Dust is generated by the death of a star. The understanding of something so bashfully - like how dust turns into grains - is an important part of understanding how galaxies evolve, and not least how the Sun, Earth and many of the complex molecules that make up the building blocks of life have come into being.
After the lecture there will be a small reception.
Anja Cetti Andersen is an astrophysicist at the Niels Bohr Institute at Copenhagen University. She received numerous awards for her research dissemination, among others the "DR Rosenkjær Price", National Research Communication Prize, the EU Descartes price and the Hans Oersted Medal in Silver. She has published a number of books on astronomy for children and adults, most recently "A small book about the Universe" and "The girl who wanted everything to go away." She has three children aged 17-24.
